Ministers blamed for Universalist decline over war coal plan

Universalist Church membership fell nearly 10 percent this year as ministers cut church programs to conserve coal for the war effort. Rev. F A Bisbee pointed to closed churches and reduced activities, saying ministers treated the reduced pulpit work as a vacation and communities suffered. Communion services resume after Easter as the drive to boost membership continues. The club re elected leaders and noted a canceled Liberty Loan address by U.S. District Attorney Boynton.
