Politics and the Public Schools in Boston
Retired Boston School Board member Mr. G W Anderson critiques Boston’s school system in Atlantic Monthly arguing one third of the tax levy funds politicians and that a large school committee could manage more jobs. He contends women’s suffrage widens bigotry and cites Irish Catholic clan politics and publishing-house influence as flaws. Henry B Blackwell replies and Mrs Julia Ward Howe defends women’s suffrage.
