Diplomatic Praise for Samoan Settlement and Unanimous High Commission

Assault at Washington Street store leaves woman injured

A woman was assaulted shortly after midnight Wednesday in a men s furnishing store at 1047 Washington Street. She is at City Hospital in stable condition. Two assailants fled. Daniel Driscoll, owner of the shop, is believed to be one of them and is jailed in the city prison.

Fatal assault near Weymouth man's death in city cafe

Stephen A. White of Weymouth, 84, died after a blow to the head at M. J. McLaughlin's restaurant on Kneeland Street. Martin J. McLaughlin, 27, was arrested on assault charges. White entered asking for tobacco, was ejected, returned, and was struck, leaving him unconscious with a skull fracture. Police dispute McLaughlin's version noting a history of temper and a prior incident involving a cashier.

Glass workers strike at Himer Glass Works in Millville

The Himer Glass Works in Millville faced a walkout as workers refused Bas Sett's recognition of a deman d committee and moved to a hall for speeches by Vic Presidents Doughty and Mulliman of the Glass Workers Union. A Glassboro jubilee later backed the workers' demands. Meanwhile a court finding followed a fatal shooting outside a home on Brighton Street on March 2.
