Marblehead April 5 Two attempts to haul the steamer Norseman from rocks off Marblehead Neck succeeded to varying degrees. The second attempt with fire tugs pulled the liner 70 feet astern and officials expect she will be afloat as tides rise next week barring a storm. Lighters worked all day to remove cargo and casks from Boston will be brought to fill the hold to keep buoyancy.

World’s Largest Dogs Shine At Brooklyn Show

The two largest dogs in the world, Wonder 8 and Glenmere St Bernards, owned by the Sullivan brothers of Brooklyn, opened a Tuesday dog show in New York. Glenmere won three prizes. Wonder 8 was very highly commended. Glenmere’s head and contour impress judges and his forearm measures 16 inches with a 43 inch girth, coat strong and shaggy, reflecting Alpine breeding.
