Jefferson Club Fire Threat in North End Building
The Jefferson Club in the North End, organized by Mayor Fitzgerald, faced destruction by fire around 8 30 last night at 212 Charter Street. The six story brick building housed the club on the second floor and the blaze started in the tailor shop on the top floor causing about 3500 in damage. Firemen fought the flames for an hour and saved furnishings with rubber blankets though smoke and water damage spread to lower floors. Traffic on Hanover Street was halted for over an hour during the incident.

Charles Jacob Babbitt, lawyer and author, died yesterday at his home in Helvetia Chambers Huntington Avenue.
