James Carpenter arraigned in fatal assault case in Providence
James Carpenter a noted local horseman was arraigned before Judge Sweetland on charges of violently assaulting Harry Morse 27 Cottage Street. Morse died at the hospital from peritonitis shortly after. Morse, a 38 year old hustler, had testified Carpenter owed him 43 dollars and allegedly kicked him in the abdomen last Tuesday near the Union Club. Autopsy to be performed by Medical Examiner Keefe tomorrow.
