Quash Three De Luxe Indictments In Roxbury Case

Suffolk grand jury had indicted George W. Blackburn Frank Cooper and J F Scanlon in the De Luxe book inquiry. Assistant District Attorney McIsaac dropped the cases for insufficient evidence to convict. Scanlon pleaded not guilty, posted 5000 bail, and left Boston after surrendering December 2. The charges included conspiracy to steal from Kateanger of Roxbury and obtaining a signature by false pretenses in 1910.

Miss Blakeslee Died of Blood Poisoning at Malden Hospital

The daughter of Henry W. Blakeslee of 138 Meridian Parkway fell ill Sunday evening and died at Malden Hospital. Wilfred B. Tyler, Malden District Court clerk, reportedly took her dying statement prompting police action. An autopsy by Medical Examiner Thomas Durell and Dr Swan found blood poisoning caused the death.

In Milford on March 31 the I. W. W. ordered a strike of Draper company Hopedale cotton machinery plant workers. It is expected that several thousands will not report for work when the plant opens in the morning after months of organizing activity.

The Draper company swore in a large force of special police to guard its property. Milford Chief O Neil arranged for regular and special officers to be on duty at the plant tomorrow. I W W members among Proper employees exceed 500, and a pamphlet calling for all employees to join the strike is circulating. It is expected nearly all employees will respond to the call.

Harvard’s Dr Charles W Eliot and Princeton’s Dr Stewart Paton led the opening of a Mental Hygiene exhibit and conference in Tremont Temple Boston with educators psychiatrists and hospital officials in attendance. Taft Arrives at Yale for Student Escort Parade

New Haven March 31 Professor William Howard Taft will reach Yale tomorrow noon to a welcoming parade by 2000 students. Four major sport team captains will be parade marshals with department delegations.
