First Bale Of Cotton Ginned In Fannin County
The Williams Gin at Cotton Center ginned the first 1955 Fannin County bale shortly after 5 pm Monday. Grower Tom McDonald reported a 612 pound bale from 2130 pounds of seed cotton on seven and a half acres, sold at 33 cents a pound for 201.96 dollars plus premiums and gin purchase. Premiums totaled 125 dollars, with the gin adding 25 dollars, yielding 326.96 dollars to McDonald.
