Jerre Gallivan a Lake Erie & Western switchman aged about thirty four died after a belt car he rode to couple on another car was moved. Foreman John McGill and crew including Jerre were switching near Midland steel works when he was crushed beneath wheel. He died at 7 05 pm after being taken to his home near the tracks. His widow and extended family mourn the accident and funeral was held at Poneto with many local mourners.
Governor Claude Matthews designates Thanksgiving on Nov 30 by state proclamation. He urges prayers and charitable remembrance of the distressed, praising divine care for the coming year, with observance across homes and churches. The note ends with the governor’s seal and secretary’s signature. Val Dotson, accused of stealing the Sturgis horse, was acquitted in Hartford City after defense and prosecution presented. The defense showed Dotson was in Muncie from Thursday to Saturday before crossing to Ohio.
Hugh D. Studabaker returns to his old post at the Market street meat market beside W. A. Lipkey after a year at North Furniture factory. He invites former friends and patrons to visit Monday and renew business relations.
Murat Halstead’s remark about republicans as the party of certainties is rebuked by the New York World. It notes a list of perceived failures from 30 years of peace, including a tariff, a treasury surplus turning into a deficit, a rising annual shortfall, a depleted gold reserve, a dangerous silver-purchase policy, and the growth of trusts and power.

The group adjourned to 1:30 PM after a bountiful dinner and planned to meet at District No. 2 Shoemaker school.

John anticipates mudgy weather and suggests the church follow Shoemaker’s example. Children enjoy merry days at school as farmers tidy up. Many haul tile to ditch while dry and Ephraim Bower works logs to build a cage for a bird. C W Shoemaker, on vacation from Sydney Furniture, returns. Some farmers long for oil wells. SIrrines.
