The final common school diploma examinations for Bluffton area will be held Saturday May 21 in the county superintendent's office. Expect few candidates as most pupils have completed work. Some who missed prior exams may now take part, with all to travel to Bluffton since township tests are no longer permitted.
A brief ad proclaims Dr Kings New Life Pills powerful against dyspepsia jaundice fever and constipation. It claims the pill suits all ages and costs 25 cents sold at Chas C Deam's drug store.
Wililan Starr awaits river retreat to start his stone quarry at the foot of Wabash street. A crusher is installed and crushed stone will be sold for road building. last season floods forced stoppages and pumping was needed. Meyers quarry plans mention possible future operations nearby.

Penn township residents prevail in county commissioners court at Portland in a dry town remonstrance against liquor license applicants George Miller and Samuel Briggs. Several hundred attended as the remonstrance held a majority of over fifty, and the dispute may continue.

The Goldberger case against National Steel Casting unfolds in court led by Judge W. H. Hichhorn. The article details his Arctic of buying a dismantled Akron rolling mill for 1500, reselling parts in Bucyrus and Youngstown for 4000 each, and shipping iron to the defendant while billing rail fare.

Byrd vs McKinney was continued. Lipinsky vs Runyan and Feltz Van defendants defaulted. A judgment for $165.33 plus $16 in attorneys fees was entered on the account. White vs Wheeler on an account showed judgment for the plaintiff.
Strong testimony from J. B. Barker of Fletcher, physician and surgeon, praising Gilmore's Caustic Oil as effective for counterirritant use. Judge West of the Montgomery county circuit court in Crawfordsville ruled Saturday that the last session's act extending terms for county officers is unconstitutional. The case from Hendricks county involved Treasurer John E B Vestal seeking to block a nominee from appearing on the fall ticket. The decision, likely to be appealed to the state supreme court, upsets a lobby of county officers and questions legislative power.
A vintage advertisement urges immediate action against a hacking cough or cold. It promotes Dr. Boschee's German Syrup, claiming relief after a few doses and a full cure with continued use, even for deep lung trouble, with trial bottles at 25 cents and regular sizes at 75 cents.
Dave Klopfenstine shipped a load of twenty three steers to Bash Packing in Fort Wayne. The cattle, fattened on local distillery slops, averaged about 1160 pounds and were described as among the best butcher cattle in the county in years. Bash Packing is a sizable local firm with strong regional trade though smaller than Chicago houses. Some cattle may return to the city as beal.
B F Bass of Fremont North Carolina wrote that after trying electric Bitters he was relieved from kidney trouble and soon cured. He reports neighbors were cured of rheumatism neuralgia liver and kidney troubles and general debility. Only 50c at Clas C Deam's drug store.
Deeds flooding the county recorder’s office claim $18 000 paid for five lots in Lafayette addition. Victims include B T Morris of Laclede Missouri and Thomas Starr of Mynese Indiana. Deed misrepresentation lists L Thompson MM Bell as grantor and R F Morris Knightstown Indiana as recipient.
