Bluffton city election a Democratic landslide despite pockets of opposition
The Bluffton city election yesterday produced a Democratic majority with only Poffenberger, Rinear, and Fox winning against them. Crosbie (Rep) captured marshal by 150 votes amid heavy turnout and high spending. Yaller Laigs backed Buck and McFarren in first and third wards. Returns announced late as counts were tough with many scratched tickets, yet results showed Dems sweeping council and mayoral power across the state in several towns. George F. Rinear thanks First ward supporters declaring loyalty to the straight Democratic ticket.

Terrell Leaves for the Asylum Tomorrow

Judge Studabaker Died in Decatur at 77
David D. Studabaker, aged 77, died at his Decatur home after a brief illness. Born August 12, 1827, in Fort Recovery, Ohio, he studied and taught before practicing law in Decatur for 31 years. He served as prosecuting attorney, state legislator, and district judge, and was a director of the Richmond & Fort Wayne railroad. Survived by five children, including Mrs Vesey of Fort Wayne and Daniel Studabaker Jr. He was a leading Methodist and longtime community figure.

Baby Drowns in Decatur Cistern
The two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Meyers of Decatur fell into an open cistern this morning and drowned. The mother discovered the child after a search, pulling the body to the surface with a rake. The baby had wandered off previously and was in the water for over an hour before recovery.
