Farmers and fruit growers debate whether the freeze damaged peaches and pears while apples remain uncertain. Some say winter severity harms tender crops, but hardy apples may still be in doubt as buds have not matured, and warm weather could have prevented full damage.
An advertisement urges immediate use of Boschee's German Syrup for coughing and colds claiming relief in days and cure for deep lung troubles. It touts a thirty five year history and sells trial bottles at 25 cents and regular bottles at 75 cents through druggists.
Friday evening Joe Derr, famed disciple of Izaak Walton, attempted to land a very large carp. The fish snapped the line and vanished toward deep water, prompting Derr to improvise with a grab book attached to a clothes line.
A letter from Otto Dodd of Missouri claims Mincklen's Arnica Salve cured a year long ugly sore. He praises it as the best salve on earth and notes it sells for 25 cents at Chas ea Deam's drug store.

Alex Strong of Medina testifies it saved him from breakdown, describes severe symptoms, and credits Vitona with better sleep, appetite, and energy. Cost listed as one dollar per bottle or six for five dollars, with express prepaid in the county.

Mrs Haviland of Armonk New York reports a near fatal whooping cough and bronchitis in her daughter, later saved by Dr King’s New Discovery. Her niece with advanced Consumption also recovered. The ad touts the medicine as infallible for coughs and colds with trial bottles free.
A new fan slot machine, to be marketed this summer, enables customers to obtain a breeze by depositing a penny. The coin activates an electric switch and motor to drive the fan, delivering a penny's worth of cooling before serving the next user.
Rev. Jno S Cox of Wake Ark recounts twelve years of yellow jaundice vanishing after using Electric Bitters. He testifies to relief from liver and kidney trouble, stomach disorder, and debility. The ad promises a guaranteed medicine for 50 cents via Chas C Deam.
Jay A. Hindman, from Bluffton, reports lengthy work in the Hartzeh case that moved from the county and lingered in courts for years. He acted as investigator and attorney, logging over 10,000 miles of depositions and records searches, including trips to Texas and reviewing Cincinnati Methodist church marriage records to locate the needed document.
Mrs. T. V. Williams of Sainsbury Michigan reports relief from sour stomach vomiting spells after using Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets. The ad guarantees cure for this stomach trouble and promotes sale by Davenport and Ehile.
John D. Rockefeller reacts to Ida Tarbell’s Standard Oil history by sending a copy of his answer to every clergyman in the country. The article notes the response was penned by Standard Oil’s general counsel and appeared in an American periodical.
Jay County commissioners hire two former Muncie experts, Thomas P. Kenworthy and Willis Nussbaum, to audit several years of county finances. They work on commission from May 1 to September 1 to uncover any mismanagement.

Also an advertisement notes Chamberlain’s Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy for bowel complaints in children with a customer testimonial from Mrs J B Cooke of Nederlands Texas. A note recounts a tramp’s voyage toward Maryland turning into a tale of ado and charity involving a toy Ark for a little sister Ida and a mass injury from a machine in Missouri.
Notices announce final settlement examinations in two Wells Circuit Court cases from Bluffton Indiana. Peter Ebnit administrator of John Ebnit deceased must show cause May 1904 why accounts not be approved. John Van Camp administrator of John T. Kingen deceased must show cause May 9 1904.
Notice is hereby given that William Bauermeister has been appointed administrator of the estate of Ernest Bauermeister Sr late of Wells county deceased. Said estate is supposed to be solvent. Wells Circuit Court clerk W H Bichhorn attorney.
In Wells term 1904 cause 8084 the wife of defendant Charles F. King files a verified complaint claiming he vanished after 1898 from Indiana. The non resident must be party. court to appoint administrator for the estate of the absent husband in Mt. Zion Lot 10 Bluffton hearing April 18 1904.
Public sale scheduled for May 7 1994 at the Wells county courthouse to auction rents and profits for up to seven years on a described two acre parcel and additional Lots 4 3 in Liberty Center areas. State of Indiana Wells County draws non resident defendant Lawrence K. Runkle into a divorce suit. The Bluffton court sets Septem ber term 1904 with Mock & Sons as attorneys. Defendant must appear by Sept 1, 1904. otherwise the complaint will be taken as true and judgment rendered.
The Wells County Board of Commissioners announces sealed proposals due May 4 1904 for furnishing materials and constructing fifteen gravel roads in Jackson township. Bids may cover 11 roads jointly or each road separately. An August 1903 election approved building these roads and returns were filed August 18 1903.
