Advertising Graft Targeting Newspapers In McCook Nebraska
A real estate agency in McCook Nebraska is pushing a fake advertising scheme to gain free newspaper space. Mailers deliver a wheat sample with no name followed by an explanatory letter supposedly from an Indiana born ex‑farmer named Uncle Billy Someone. The letter claims Nebraska productiveness but reveals no verifiable identity, ending with a boast about Iowa or Indiana farming in 1848. The piece is a land company ploy written to mimic a friendly local letter.
