James S. Cartwright of Jefferson township died yesterday morning after months of feeble health. A respected resident since 1852, he moved from Trumbell County to Wells County and built a sturdy farm. Fatal Fall At Eagleville Leaves Widowed Mother Dead
Aged mother Mrs. Smith, near Eagleville school house, fell on stairs about two o'clock Tuesday morning and broke her neck, dying instantly. Her son Johnson Smith returned to find her lifeless at the foot of the stairs after entering a window. She was nearly seventy. The Wells County Teachers Institute will be held at sixboys opera house starting Monday for five days with instructors W. W. Black and W. I. Fitzgibbon. Dr J W Younge of Ft Wayne was beaten by iarl Shober editor of the Monday Morning Times after Shober claimed Younge circulated harsh clippings about him. Shober, who has one arm, knocked Younge down and left him unconscious. Shober was arrested and posted bond for the next court date.
