Peterstown Officials Fight Sewage Upgrade Plan
Peterstown Mayor Giles Jones and the town council oppose a Red Sulphur PSD proposal to extend sewage service to about 161 more customers and upgrade the plant. They warn rate hikes from 10.70 to 19.32 monthly would fall on present customers, especially seniors, while PSD officials tout improved health, higher land values, and growth from the project. Voters can halt the measure by gathering 50 percent signatures by early 1982, with locations in Peterstown and Union accepting opposition forms.
