Christmas Vacation at Sweet Briar Begins Friday
Sweet Briar College announces Christmas vacation starts Friday December 17. Students from thirty four states will go home for the holidays. faculty will disperse across the country. Vacation lasts through January 3 with classes resuming January 4. Bluefield students Miss Anna Mae Peuchtenberger and Miss Margaret Elizabeth Thomas will leave on Friday.

Winners Named In Matches For Hotel Trophy
In a close final session Monday evening A J Lubliner and Mex Turk won the Southern West Virginia open pair contract bridge championship at the Elks club with 383 and captured the West Virginian hotel trophy to keep till next spring. They also earned fifty master points and prizes, while runners up Mrs Harold Black and Mrs H H Lawson received twenty master points and prizes. Other placements included B D Lenett with Harry Kammer third and Everett Callaway with Mark Reid fourth, plus additional pairs earning points.
