A six inch main on Commerce street burst yesterday afternoon at Bluefield causing about 1,000,000 gallons lost and leaving portions of the city without water for nearly three hours. Tank Hill storage dropped fifteen feet as reserve pumps were used. full service returned by 10 PM. City officials delayed street washing plans due to the shortage.

Robert French 21, of Niday Bland County Virginia died at home yesterday from tuberculosis. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. T. K. French of Niday a brother in the Bastian CDC camp and a sister in Catawba sanitarium. Burial is set for today in the family cemetery near the French home at Niday.
