Pleasantville Corner Stone Laying Draws Big Crowd
A crowd of more than twelve hundred attended the corner stone ceremony for the new school house in Pleasantville last Saturday afternoon. The event was led by the Car lisle Masonic lodge with Odd Fellows and Sullivan county fraternities assisting. Speakers included Jon James E Watson of Rushville and Hon Guy H Humphreys of Bloomfield. The talks stressed education and its necessity. The Pleasantville band provided music and school children sang. Trustee Frank Spencer of Jefferson township received praise for organizing the fine program.

Wages ranged from 3.00 to 65.00 weekly, averages about 14.75 for men and 7.46 for women. 18 fatal accidents and 74 dismemberments occurred. 1,308 cases paid 10,183.42 weekly with average 7.75.

Case Against Fred Morgan Dismissed
The manslaughter case against Fred Morgan a drainage contractor of Vincennes was dismissed at Indianapolis on the recommendation of Mildred Hoeltka s parents who was killed at the Bluff road bridge near Indianapolis last November when struck by Morgans auto It was not thought Morgan was criminally liable as witnesses said the child ran into the road.

Deaths: William Hagood Dies After Illness at Fairplay
William Hagood, 72, of Fairplay near Worthington, died last week after eight weeks of stomach cancer. He leaves a wife. Funeral services were led by Rev. T. J. Due and he was buried in Dixon cemetery.
