Major General Frederick Funston, commander of the U S southern department and a prominent figure since his Philippines days, died last night from acute indigestion after collapsing at a hotel following a dinner. He had been in his office earlier and appeared in good health. his last words were praising the beauty of The Beautiful Blue Danube.

Exposition Award Medal for Local Youth Dies Before Diploma
William Livingston, fifteen, son of S. R. and Mrs. Livingstons near Calvertville Highland township, earned a bronze Panama Pacific Exposition medal and diploma for ten ears of corn. Colored Boy Steals Purse In Bloomington Incident
A colored boy named Billy Leavett, brought from Tennessee by H. B. Gentry of Bloomington, is accused of stealing $200 from under a pillow at the Gentry home. The boy and money were missing and a telegram sent to Linton where he was taken from a train and brought back to Bloomington. He had earlier taken $16 from a pocketbook but promised not to repeat the act.

Alley Attack on Mrs. Cook Near Restaurant
Mrs. Cook wife of John Cook of Cook and Bayse was accosted by a man in a dark alley on Sunday night while walking home from the restaurant. She broke free and returned to the restaurant where she was escorted home. A man was seen fleeing but not identified.

Frank Lucas a former Odon resident and brakeman died instantly when a freight engine struck the caboose on a side track near Danville. The engine crew jumped clear and survived. the incident occurred Wednesday morning.
