Sullivan County Farmer Found Frozen in Yard

Ephriam Johnson, 40, a Fairbanks Township farmer in Sullivan County, was found in his yard early Saturday morning frozen to death. He had struggled with facial cancer for about three years and, in a delirious spell, wandered from bed to yard during the night and could not return to the house due to weakness.

Bloomfield Passes Ordinance Regulating Wires

Bloomfield town board in special session approved an ordinance requiring electric light wires on paved streets and the public square to be placed underground. The rule covers streets up to half a block from the square. Officials say underground wiring is expensive but soon inevitable.

Wilson and Marshall Win 277 254 Electoral Victory

A joint session of the Senate and House completed the electoral vote tally. Wilson and Marshall received 277 votes to Hughes and Fairbanks with California’s 13 votes for Wilson prompting cheers from Democrats.

The Birth of a Nation by David W. Griffith arrives at the Grand Opera House in Linton on February 22 for afternoon and night shows. Greene county memory letter from Abbeville founder

C J Edwards of Abbeville La recalls Greene county’s early days in a Democratic letter. He notes his grandfather Henry Edwards a pioneer near Saratoga NY and Peter C Vanslyke built an early saw mill on White River near Bloomfield. He recalls rough times whisky at 25 cents a gallon and court week with fights and four horse teams hauling goods.

New Brick Building Planned in Bloomfield by Local Agents

Mansfield and Haywood, Ford and Overland agents, will begin a new brick sales room and garage north of Ambaker drug store by early March. The 50 by 184 foot building will store over 50 cars and serve as a modern facility. Bloomfield's building boom signals growing business in the county seat.

McIntyre Injured Riding Switch Engine at Bloomington Showers

Ot McIntyre son of Mr and Mrs Thomas McIntyre suffered a painful foot injury while riding a switch engine at the Showers factory in Bloomington on Tuesday. A cross tie placed near the track to stop rolling logs caught him as he watched signals and he was thrown clear. He received medical care in Bloomington and returned home that evening.

Clerk Denies Marriage License To Young Daviess Couple

Paxton Youth Drowned in Home Well

Nolan Cox of Paxton in Sullivan county was accidentally drowned Monday evening in his parents well at home. He, who had epileptic fits, is believed to have fallen while drawing water. A physician arrived, but life was extinct. neck broken in the fall.
