Mangled Body Found Near Sullivan In Tragic Train Incident
The mangled body of Martin Holtz of near Vincennes was found on an Illinois Central track near Sullivan last Saturday. The right leg was severed and the body badly mangled. clothing fragments lined the track. A silver watch and 75 cents were found. First aid came from Boy Scouts and townspeople. Holtz’s relatives could not be located and burial was by Billman undertaker. Scout Master Edgar Fodrill led 20 Boy Scouts from Bloomfield on a 10 day hike toward Owensboro for camp life, with listed scouts named.

Harley Abrams aged 22 of Tulip and employed at Midland shot himself one inch below the heart in a crisis after a quarrel with his sweetheart. He was taken to Linton Hospital and expected to be released Friday. His mother lives near Tulip and his brother Henry Abrams resides north of Bloomfield.
