Farmers Plan To Increase Produce

In Bloomfield Indiana on April 16 1917 a meeting of the organization for increased food production convened in the courthouse to plan township actions. County agent C F McIntosh chaired with J D Myers of Worthington as chairman and George Davidson as secretary.

County war committee calls for spring food production plan

The group outlines eight actions to boost crops and supply. Roll of Honor Grows With Four New Names Added

The roll of honor has been increased by four additions: William Moode, navy, Ora D. Ockerman and Alva Allen, army and Luther Ramsey, navy. The complete list now includes Glen O'Donald, coast artillery, Don Warnick, Harry Wade, John Timmons, William Moade, Luther Ramsey, navy, Bryan Blaker, Ora D. Ocker man, and Alva Allen, army.

Old Glory Raised Amid Flag Raising and Fireflood

A crowd watched an 85 foot red white and blue poplar flagpole hoisted by an automobile truck. Sixteen veterans and one gray wearer joined in the ceremony as Rev J D Smith prayed and the Bloomfield band played. A brief smoke scare near the northwest courthouse tower caused a panic before it was found to be a flue fire.

War Meeting Urges Money Ammunition and Food

The meeting in the commissioner's court room drew good attendance. J. D. Myers, chairman, urged funds and supplies to hasten victory, noting Germany's violations and the world leaning toward democracy. G. F. McIntosh warned the war is on and preparations must anticipate worst case. The note of food shortage alarm ended the session.

Temple of Justice false alarm urges new conditions

At a Civic Club meeting in the library a hospital project for Bloomfield was explored with an $8,000 estimate to repair and equip the building. An executive committee was named to pursue plans while cleanup week and flag-raising at the Ladies' Rest Room were organized.

A patriotic German, lacking a final certificate of arms, entered the sheriff's office and surrendered a revolver and shells. He explains his loyalty to the new country and complies with the proclamation requiring a final certificate. Obtaining first and second papers was not enough.
