SGHS trustees in Big Timber Montana discussed bus routes a school trip and insurance coverage at the regular monthly meeting. A hearing on the Rapstad School sale is set for Oct 9 with news on page 10. The Clerk and Recorder's annual report to the county auditor appears on pages 6-7.
Mayor McLean Clark urged Big Timber officials to consider a monthly sewer fee between 75 cents and $1 to build a reserve for repairs and future treatment facilities. The plan aims to cover lagoon construction and avoid bond costs, with potential EPA matching funds. Some members hesitate but agree to discuss further before year end.
The Department of Community Affairs announced it had adopted regulations for 59 Montana towns including Big Timber. Local officials say Big Timber plans a city council backed set of rules, with the City-County Planning Board reviewing measures before final adoption. The state rules can prevail if local standards are not yet adopted. Continued on page 9.
Tony VanderVoort, newly elected president, reports repairs planned for the two Sweet Grass County TV translators serving Billings stations. About 100 attended a reorganization meeting at the American Legion Hall. more than 500 dollars in dues was collected to start renovations and possible replacement of the inoperative unit. Dues will be 20 dollars this year, aiming to return to 10 dollars next year, with payments accepted in person or by mail to Citizens Bank and Trust.

Mayor McLean Clark seeks volunteers to serve on an ad hoc committee for the summer park recreation program. City Clerk James McCauley will receive names for the citizens group that will assist the parks and recreation committee in planning next summer's program.
Two deaths in Sweet Grass County traffic crashes last week raise the road toll to nine. Robert Jarrett 54 of Springdale died in a head on with a eastbound semi on Highway 10 near the county line. The second fatality was Daniel Theodore Schnider 25 Helena a construction worker killed in a single vehicle crash on Highway 298 south of town.
