Rescue crews pressed Tuesday to locate eight year old Sherrie F. Tichenor who vanished after her horse slipped and fell while crossing the Jefferson River near Whitehall. Authorities say the girl was swept away in swift currents as her mother and other children watched. A fund for the Tichenor family was set up in Big Timber with donation spots at Reed's Welding and a contact number.
Henry Oldenburg started as the new City-County Planning Director after approval by Sweet Grass County Commissioners. He will develop a preliminary land use base map using maps from Soil Conservation Service Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management and consider state subdivision rules for Big Timber in shaping a master plan.
SGHS hosts homecoming events including a Friday game versus Whitehall a parade at 11 30 a m queen candidates and a dance. Dan McCauley chairs activities with Bill Kirchner parade chair and Tim Rostad queen activities. Six SGHS seniors compete for queen with Christine Elgen to crown during halftime and former classes to be honored.

A former Big Timber resident, Mrs. Charles Nottingham, severely burned when a hair dryer fell into a bath Friday night. She remains in critical condition at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings. Police say her husband and two children were out. he attempted a rescue and gave mouth to mouth resuscitation before responders arrived.
