The Sweet Grass Community Hospital in Big Timber hosts a Sunday open house to celebrate 25 years since its 1950 opening. Administrator Lois Williams notes key milestones from the 1946 planning through a 20 000 addition, the transition to Sweet Grass Community Hospital Inc, coronary care expansion, and ongoing efforts to attract more physicians and modern services.
The City Council reassured the newly formed City-County Planning Commission that its recommendations will be given due consideration. Richard Willems urged that planning concepts be respected as the board had advised on a subdivision east of the city limits, while Mayor McLean Clark defended the council’s actions as within jurisdiction and aimed at well researched development.
Fredricks Research for Sweet Grass County finds a favorable tone for a county right of way from McLeod to Cooke City through the Beartooth area. Forest Service calls the road interim open while legal opinions are prepared and maintains limited use under enacted restrictions.
