Kerr Services In Absarokee
Funeral services were held for Arthur M. Kerr 78 at the Congregational church Absarokee. He died August 22 in a Billings hospital after 10 days as a patient. Interment was in Rosebud cemetery. Kerr born April 4 1887 Fort Collins Colorado came to Montana in a wagon train settling south of Absarokee on Rosebud river.

JC Auction Sale Provides Strong Returns at Local Event
The Annual 4H and FFA auction sale sponsored by the Big Timber Jaycees drew strong support Saturday. Top fat steer weighed 1010 pounds and sold for 50.25 per pound to Ron Watters of Frye's Cafe. purple ribbon beef and blue ribbon lambs commanded high prices, with many lot sales recorded for local buyers and sponsors including Frye's Cafe, Sky Flight, and Justin and S. Solberg, reflecting solid community participation.

Sweet Grass County Herders Prep For 1965 Season
The 1965 Sweet Grass County High School Sheep herder football team has completed nearly two weeks of practice for the season opener against Lodge Grass on September 11. With 13 seniors gone and only seven lettermen back, coach Graham notes rebuilding work. Captain John Ellison leads the backfield with Terry Mosness and Jim McGehee. Paul Tyler is the lone returning regular lineman. The squad comprises 40 athletes with eight varsity games and five combined B squad/freshman contests.

SGHS opens with enrollment of 222 students
SGHS reported 222 students on the first day under Principal A. R. Collins. The breakdown shows 53 seniors and 59 freshmen, 56 juniors and sophomores combined, with new students listed by name and previous residence. A trial then shortened schedule proceeded smoothly into Tuesday.

The T-Bone CowBelles booth at the fair drew many visitors as Mrs. Sigurd Lavold and Mrs. Howard Hanson led the beef promotion. The Water Hole feature served 475 cups of ice water from a water crock while a youth contest weighed a chuck roast at eight pounds 11% ounces. Mark Blair won $5 for guessing the roast weight, with Sophie Beatty of Long Beach winning the roast in a drawing. Napkins placemats and brand books were sold, with prices listed for each item.

Mrs. Floyd Sumner Critically Injured In Crash
Mrs. Floyd Sumner of Livingston remains on the critical list after a car truck collision near White Sulphur Springs on Friday. Her husband, currently in good condition, was to be moved to a Billings hospital for eye specialist care. The Sumners were en route to Great Falls. Mrs. Sumner has been unconscious since the crash while Mr. Sumner suffered a facial laceration but remained conscious.
