Bloodmobile Visit a Success in Sweet Grass County
The Sweet Grass county Red Cross reports 70 donors gave 66 pints at the Big Timber bloodmobile. Dr. J L Raney supervised medical work. 17 workers plus 8 school boys assisted. Donors from rural communities and 20 clubs, churches, and schools boosted the county wide effort.

Plans for 1964 Census of Agriculture in Sweet Grass County
Tommy Saunders of Columbus announces the 1964 census of agriculture in Sweet Grass County will run in three stages. Recruitment and training begin with about one enumerator per 150 farms, followed by mail questionnaires after November 5 to rural boxholders, then on site visits starting November 9 to collect forms and answer farmer questions. The five year cycle gathers data on farms, crops, livestock, equipment, products sold, and chemical use to guide national economic decisions.

Wesley Castles Speaks to Lions on Reapportionment
Associate Justice Wesley Castles of the Montana Supreme Court addressed the Big Timber Lions on the background and problems of reapportionment. Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Strand of Laurel were honored Sunday evening with a buffet dinner for 50 friends and relatives in observance of their silver wedding anniversary. The home was festively decorated with fall bouquets and chrysanthemums while daughter Kathy presented slides from her World’s Fair tour. Forty years ago Mr and Mrs W D Ellsworth and their three children headed from Virginia Minnesota to California by a 2 door Ford in 1923. The family camped with stove and tent covering 2700 miles at about 25 miles per day using seven spare tires. Mrs Ellsworth kept a journal noting June and August the toughest days and the roughest stretch between Miles City and Billings as a trail like path.

School Districts Must Repay Funds
The State Board of Education gave 30 districts in 10 counties up to three years to refund alleged over payments of state equalization aid. The districts may have funds deducted from future aid or repay in cash, with Miss Harriet Miller voting no. Sums ranged from 8.77 to 1,067 dollars.

Meeting of Montana School Boards Attendees Convene at Lewistown
Lloyd Rein and Mrs. Ralph Prather attended the thirty-ninth annual Montana School Boards convention at the Yogo Inn Lewistown October 15 to 17. About 300 delegates from across the state participated. Pioneer Montana teacher Fidelia Geiger dies at 85
Mrs. Fidelia L. Geiger, 85, longtime educator in Stillwater and surrounding counties, died October 7 in a Billings hospital. Born February 2, 1879 in Georgetown Minnesota, she taught in multiple Montana districts, wrote The English Language Made Easy in 1962, and later served as house mother at Deaconess School in Helena. Survived by two sons, two brothers, a sister, and a brother-in-law, with ties to Reed Point and Billings.

The Big Timber Sheepherders fell to the Engineers 19-6 in a hard fought Friday night game in Harlowton. Harlo led 6-0 after a 26 yard Francisco to Lorenzen TD pass, then added two third quarter scores on short runs and a Watson reception. Rich Nelson connected with John Elison for the Herder lone TD in the fourth, as injuries hampered Big Timber throughout. Coach Graham praised Rich Nelson and the entire squad for fighting through setbacks as they prepare for a season finale at Columbus against defending Cougars.
