Head-on Collision Kills Raymond Boe near Big Timber
Raymond Boe 38 son of Mrs Josie Boe of Big Timber was killed instantly in a Tuesday night head-on collision about a half mile west of Big Timber. He drove a Ford station wagon that collided with an eastbound 1970 Peterbilt tractor semi owned by Highball Trucking of Billings driven by Leroy Locken who sustained a minor head wound and was treated and released. Patrolman Richard Henthorn investigated.

Sweet Grass County will close schools Thursday and Friday October 21 and 22 to allow teachers and administrators to attend the state MEA conventions in Billings Havre Great Falls and Missoula. Topics include wage price freeze MEA constitution and negotiations law. Veteran’s Day closures follow national holiday October 25 with observances set for November 11 by American Legion Post 19.

CowBelles Hold Annual Banquet and Meeting
CowBelles from Sweet Grass Carbon and Stillwater counties met Tuesday for the annual fall dinner and meeting at Frye's Cafe with 82 members in attendance. The Big Timber Woman's Club held its annual fall banquet Monday evening October 4 at Frye's Cafe Banquet Room. About 75 members and guests attended a smorgasbord style meal with fall decor and orange candles. Speakers included Mrs Jo Lavold on her Ecuador trip with behind the scenes insights and native dress displays. Anita Bly from the American Cancer Society spoke, followed by songs by Cindy Morton and Julie Etzold with guitar accompaniment.

Permits cost 5 dollars and must be obtained from the Health Officer. violations carry fines from 10 to 50 dollars. The rule took effect on November 15, 1969.
