C W Voges mourns death of his aunt Anna Mausbach Worthing South Dakota at age 101. Mausbach settled Worthing in 1871 and is survived by six of eight children.
Miss Rita Yvonne Braaten and Paul Raymond Esp wed in a double ring Lutheran ceremony officiated by Rev. E E Tollefson. The couple, both Sweet Grass county graduates, will live on the Esp ranch near Big Timber after a 10 day honeymoon to Colorado Springs and Denver.
Sweet Grass County Federation of Womans Clubs met in the library with Mrs. Wright Ewan presiding. They voted to purchase a plaque in memory of founder Mrs. Loasby to be placed at the city park tree. A committee for cemetery improvements was discussed and Dr. Frank D. Alexander spoke on community organizations.
The Pythian Sisters will hold a meeting at Fraternity at 8 o'clock tonight to discuss upcoming events and activities.
The American Legion Auxiliary held a regular session at the Dugout on Friday. President June Olness oversaw the initiation of twenty one new members from Big Timber and one member Agnes H. Smith of Silverton Oregon. Tea was served by Mrs A R McDonnell and committee.
Chuck Willson twenty two son of Charles Willson was seriously hurt when a 30-06 rifle bullet struck his shoulder at the Joe Spannring ranch on the Yellowstone east of Big Timber. Sheriff Walter Osborne investigated and notified Willson's father. The bullet shattered the collar and shoulder blade. he received emergency treatment in Big Timber and was rushed to Livingston. He was reported to be making good progress and is expected to regain partial use of his arm.
Americans reached a record annual rate of 215 billion dollars in August as wage and salary payments rose to 136.9 billion. The government noted a 2 billion jump from July with higher pay, more farm and trade employment, and veterans bonuses among factors. Total employment fell 933 thousand in September mainly due to teens returning to school.
In Boston on October 11 the Cleveland Indians beat the Boston Braves 3 to 4 in game six to claim their first world championship since 1920. Gene Bearden preserved the win after a late Braves rally, with 40 103 fans watching.

Robert A. Bray 48 prominent Big Timber merchant and civic leader died Friday afternoon October 8 at St. Vincent's hospital Billings after a six week cancer illness. He was a charter Lions member state legislator postmaster apiary hobbyist and longtime booster. Funeral services were held at St Mark's Episcopal church with Masonic committal later at Mountain View. Survived by widow Amelia Conwell two sons two stepchildren mother sisters brother and nieces and nephews.
The Montana fish and game commission set the northern Yellowstone elk kill at 2,600 head. The season runs Oct 15 to Jan 31. They also opened additional small areas for either sex and extended several regional elk seasons to protect private property.
Pvt. Courtney Christensen from Fort Ord California came home on a seven day furlough en route to Camp Kilmer New Jersey for overseas assignment in Italy. A tea for teachers and school board members was held Sunday at Congregational church parlors with many volunteers managing serving and decorations.
Laura Lamach 22, daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Lamach of McLeod, suffered second degree burns to hands and arms when she fell into a bathtub of hot water Tuesday after turning the tap. She was taken to Big Timber for treatment and is reported to be improving.
