State Moose Officers Meeting In Lewistown Oct 8 9
State Moose officers gather at the Moose Home October 8 and 9 for a weekend with a 7 p.m banquet on Saturday enrollment led by the Lewistown degree team. A 10 p.m. ball, 8:30 a.m. breakfast Sunday at Gemecafe, and a Dutch lunch close the events. About 12 officers and chairmen with wives expected, says Vice President Tope Strobel and sports chairman Chuck Schuler.

Franchise Election Set for December 13 in Big Timber
An election on granting Montana Power Co. a renewed 50 year franchise in Big Timber will be held December 13. The franchise would authorize the company to construct, equip, lay, maintain and operate pipelines and to transport distribute and sell natural or other gas in the city.

Louie Larson and Bud Pile tied for high score in the Rifle and Pistol club annual running deer shoot at the outdoor range Sunday. Mrs. Teddy Thompson was high lady and Sarge Hoem high junior. Harvey E. Williams 1882 1952 former Montana Power Co manager and Big Timber Ford dealer died Sept 23 at his Evanston home after long illness. Survived by widow two sons Alden Emory two daughters Ruth Vera Hoadley eight grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at Bryan Mortuary with Evanston Lodge No. 4 in charge.

Paul Nyre Accepts New Metal Service Job in Billings
Paul Nyre has taken a position as a Rynicker sheet metal service man in Billings. His wife and children will stay in Big Timber while they liquidate local plumbing and heating interests. The Nyres arrived in Big Timber in 1946 after Paul’s Air Force discharge as a World War II pilot. He previously worked for Smart’s four years, Loftsgaarden Plumbing a year and a half, then ran his own plumbing and heating shop near Bailey Hardware. He bought the hardware store in 1954, later selling it and moving to Lowe’s Carter station.

Florida hunter bags seven point elk in Montana outing
Earl Marshall of Orlando waited at the Grand hotel for deer season to open after an unusually successful elk hunt on the upper Madison. Guided by Mike Clark of Ennis, he harvested a royal seven point bull on Sept. 19, the elk dressed about 500 pounds. Marshall, a citrus grower, has hunted the area before and later boasted past trips with an elk moose and two deer, plus 25 pheasants in South Dakota. Lentfer Bros. of Livingston will mount the elk head for Marshall’s western big game collection, joining a moose head already in place.
