Sommers Found Dead In Truck Near McLeod Cabin
John Sommers lumber operator on the Main Boulder was found dead Monday in a stalled truck near his cabin south of McLeod. Coroner Wesley Cloyd said Sommers died about a week prior, likely from a heart attack, after trying to negotiate a snow slick grade. The body was discovered by Charles Rasnick. funeral services are set for Friday at the Cloyd chapel in Livingston.

McNeal Kills Bull Elk With 50 Inch Spread In Gallatin
B L McNeal of Melville bagged a six point bull after two years of elk hunting in Gallatin. The elk has a 50 inch spread and is about nine years old. The hunt involved Tom Deckert and R H Eurich with checks by Game Warden J F Burke. The rack will be sent to the Boone and Crockett club in New York City.

Escape Serious Injury In Wreck
Mr and Mrs Sam M Cain of Park City were admitted to Community hospital for minor scratches after a collision on highway 10 nineteen miles east of Big Timber. The Cains were en route to the Krone sale when two cars tried to pass a third. Deputy Sheriff Charles Fergerson and his wife were transporting a prisoner from Hardin to Deer Lodge. The Cain car was demolished while the deputy’s car received only minor damage. Last week another sheriff's officer collided with a Montana State college student car, killing two Indian prisoners.

Sheep Shipment To Butte For Relief
A contingent of 57 old ewes and one old buck shipped to Butte for relief feeding hungry people through CR OP. Ed Braaten funded most shipping costs and Teddy Thompson and Don Shay provided hay. Eighteen sheep came from Sweet Grass county and forty from Carbon county, loaded by County Chairman Scott Hoskinson, Teddy Oscar Forsythe and Loren Brewer.

Oil activity and seismograph crew head toward Big Timber area

Oil Painting Exhibition by Mrs Braughton At Montana Library
Mrs Virgil Braughton presented an oil painting exhibition with ceramics and weaving at the Montana Institute of the Arts venue in the library on Sunday.
