Antidote for Lupine Reported by Dr Chestnut

Dr Chestnut of the United States department of agriculture, after two Montana investigations into deadly lupine and death camas, is nearing completion of a report in Washington. He claims to have isolated the poison and found an antidote, a discovery vital for stock growers especially sheepmen facing lupine poisoning. Meagher County alone has reported about 2000 poisoned sheep in 60 days, 500 deaths, with seeds more toxic than the plant.

The report for 1902 lists apportionment 6974.40 and proceeds from lands 2164.74 plus special tax 8453.32 and bond sales 610.40 totaling funds for teacher salaries 10898.78 and apparatus 412.38. It notes school houses valued at 23717.00 libraries valued at 6251.50 with 1150 volumes. 666 pupils enrolled. 18 teacher certificates. 8 permits. 8 monthly teacher meetings. 2 county contests. 8th grade diplomas 60 issued. attendance certificates reduced tardiness by 232 cases.</S>

Louis Guthrie, renowned stock man of Grey Cliff, sustained a broken leg when kicking a cow into a barn provoked a counter kick from the animal. The cow struck the shin, breaking the bone.
