Helena Nov. 9 Control of both houses of the Montana legislature remained in doubt Wednesday night with four senate and 30 house races yet to be reported from several counties. Republicans had at least 14 senate seats and 11 counties elected Democratic senators. Holdover senators gave Republicans 25 to 27 Democrats in the senate with 56 seats total. four races could shift the majority. In the house, Democrats held 41 and Republicans 31 with 40 races unresolved. Republicans swept the Yellowstone region winning the senatorship and five house seats.

Dillon Man Killed in Snowstorm Collision
Melvyn Weenink, 43, of Dillon, was killed in a head-on crash with Amos Hambsch of Miami Arizona 35 miles south of Dillon during a snowstorm. Weenink died two hours after the wreck at a Dillon hospital. Hambsch and three others were slightly injured. The fatality raised the 1938 auto accident toll to 119.
