Stillwater County wool dealers sold over a half million pounds at 30 cents a pound amid increased market activity. William Witte, pool secretary, said Silbermann & Sons bought 40,000 fleeces totaling about 400,000 pounds from the Stillwater pool. The same buyer also bought 100,000 pounds from Butcher Creek pool and 80,000 pounds from Volney creek growers. Last year rates were 23 to 25 cents as trade was dull.

Car Kills Man Walking Highway Near Billings
A coroner jury in Billings ruled that Colburn Wells Miller a 20 year old from Virginia Minnesota was struck and killed by a car on United States highway No 10 about two miles west of Billings at 1245 am Monday. The car was driven by Fred K Andal 21 and owned by Clifford Spencer 20 both Lewistown ranch hands who were riding in the car with Deputy Sheriff Val G Schwan investigating. Jurors deliberated 35 minutes before the verdict was returned.

First Assessor of Park County Dies in Livingston
John H. Holliday, Park county’s first assessor and a founder of the position in the area that became Sweet Grass county, died in a Livingston hospital Thursday evening of last week at age 71. He was buried Sunday beside his father, Samuel L. Holliday, a former councilman who helped push the 1887 park bill. Holliday served as assessor after Park county’s creation, after an initial defeat to T. P. McDonald. He left Iowa for Livingston with the railway era, ran a meat market, later owned Holliday ranch near the canyon. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John W. Hefferlin of California and Mrs. Florence Heffern Sheard.
