Rifle Range Celebrates Fifth Anniversary At Big Timber
The Big Timber Rifle and Pistol club indoor range marks five years since its 1950 opening. More than 300 locals trained in safe rifle handling, with a women’s team holding state gallery championships for four years and competitors from Calgary and Ohio visiting the range. The non profit club provided free instruction to ages 10 to 100, with about 40 junior shooters trained annually in cooperation with schools.

Mrs. Pete Peterson came Monday from Ellensburg Washington to visit her sister Mrs. Tom Hovland and to attend high school graduation where Tommy Hovland was in the class. William Hoskinson of Big Timber has been accepted to Oregon Medical School Portland beginning October for a four year MD program.

Ray Dahl, 74, died Saturday morning at the Community hospital after a stroke. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 PM at Big Timber Lutheran Church with Rev. Hood presiding. He was born in Haugusund Norway in 1881 and married Sara Severide in 1905. He worked as a baker in several Montana towns before settling in Big Timber. active in the Lions Club and Lutheran Church.

Milk Program Report Details School Milk Use and Costs
The local grade school distributed 11 750 half pint bottles of milk this term under a program sponsored by the Big Timber Woman's Club. The club received aid from the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose via doughnut and coffee sales at election time. Mrs John Hager oversaw morning distribution. her salary was paid by the Montana Tuberculosis Association, funded by public donations from the TB Christmas Seals. Milk is provided on a voluntary basis. Total cost for the 11 750 bottles was 58750 dollars with 50585 paid by students. 173 bottles totaling 8365 dollars were covered by the three clubs for children who could not pay.
