Helena reports Attorney General Ford will file an injunction against Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph and Postmaster General Burleson to halt the new rate schedule. Washington May 19 Congress organized itself in the first hours of the extraordinary session with Rep Gilbert as speaker of the house and Senator Cummins of Town as president pro tempore of the senate. Republicans won control of the senate electing Cummins and defeating Senator Key Pittman of Nevada. In the house Republicans chose Frederick H. H. Gillett of Massachusetts for speaker over Champ Clark, 227 to 172, with Carrs and Randall voting for Clark.
Melville residents organize a Memorial Day program at the Lutheran church three miles west of Melville at 2 p m with speakers including M Rein and Rev Henry C Vanderbeek. The day also features songs, addresses on war evils and our dead heroes, a cemetery ceremony, and schoolchildren performances.
