A one day recreation workshop for leaders working with youth will take place at the Big Timber Lutheran church on Thursday May 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is part of six Montana conferences by Warren and Mary Lea Bailey recreation specialists from Ohio. Local helpers will assist May 26 with outreach for games to use in Boy Scouts Girl Scouts 4H clubs and church groups. Funding includes a Sears Roebuck foundation grant and a $1 registration fee. The Baileys are at Chatcolab Idaho. other conferences will occur in Superior Butte Dillon Whitehall Big Timber and Crow Agency. Local planning is aided by Sweet Grass County 4H Council and several community leaders and ministers.

MACKS OBSERVE 40TH ANNIVERSARY

Alley Cats win junior bowling league title in close finish
Alley Cats claimed the league championship with 31 wins and 14 losses, edging Ten Pins who had 28 wins and 17 losses. Services Held For Mrs. Schilling
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Louise Schilling 43 were held at the Big Timber Lutheran church with Rev. Ocee Johnson officiating. Interment was at Mountain View. She was born February 12 1922 in Newport Minnesota and married LeRoy Schilling in 1943. She left two sons a daughter and her husband and parents survive.

An all-ages Girl Scout and Brownie awards night pot luck at the Lutheran Parish hall drew many attendees. Rev Grady Chaney opened with a blessing, cadettes presented colors, and the Brownies led the flag salute. Junior Scouts and Cadettes earned badges, and a new bridge was donated for the ceremony. Snow Totals Across Big Timber Area Rise With Elevation
Last week brought rain and snow in Big Timber with rapid melt at lower elevations while higher terrain recorded deep snow. Elk Creek near McLeod measured 26 inches at the Virgil Broughton ranch, and three feet were noted farther up the Main Boulder. Melville area also saw substantial depths. Sunday dinner guests included Mrs. Walt Wells and Mrs. John Pirrie of Ryegate with Mr. and Mrs. Willie Hulin hosting, along with Mrs. Irene Gray of Bozeman.
