Ed Lomeland won the 880 yard race with a time of 2 14.0 to set a divisional mark and finished second in the mile in a Columbus meet. Big Timber placed fifth with 2214 points as Hardin led with 56. Three young men held up a Livingston motorist near the east approach to Big Timber last night. W. B. Reed said the suspects flagged him, shoved a rifle, and stole his keys and wallet extracting about $18 before discarding the wallet and keys. The offenders, around 20, wore glasses and fled in a late model two tone Dodge with a yellow plate, possibly Texas or Nebraska.

Pancake Day Profits Boost Lions Club Activities
Clem tirn, Lions Club chairman, reported Pancake Day raised about 50 dollars on the project with gross receipts near 280 dollars, slightly below last year. The club votes to sponsor a softball team and will pay 12 dollars for caps. They favor appointing a resident game warden and will petition the fish and game department with copies to Sen. McDonnell and Rev. Sippel.

Students Attend State Music Meet at Montana State University
Fifteen students from the high school attend the state music festival at Montana State University in Missoula. Two quarter horse colts will be awarded at the Forsyth horse show and rodeo on June 4-5. Al Buchli of Riverside ranch Big Timber sponsors a registered colt for first place in class 10 two and three year old 4 H colts. The colt will be brought from Harstad ranch for presentation. Ardis Swart Rosebud donates the second colt to be presented by Carol Buchli Big Timber who won the 1954 queen contest sponsored by the Big Timber Department Store.

Lutheran Congregation Votes for New Church at Present Site
The Big Timber Lutheran congregation voted to build a new church beside the current one at an estimated cost of 110000 dollars. The plan includes 355 seats, a north end altar, two floor levels, and a 250 child plus adult educational facility with a fellowship space in the old building. Construction follows a forthcoming subscription campaign with committees led by Clarence Erickson and Ben Tetlie.

Forsyth to See New Yellowstone Bridge Under Construction

Ranch Purchased for Montana Prison Farm System
The Montana State Board of Examiners voted to buy the 80 acre Joe Ryan Ranch in the Deer Lodge valley for 25 000 to add to the prison farm system. The Ryans pay the 1954 second half taxes and four months of 1955 taxes. after which the property will be tax free. The ranch was described as a vacation lodge and the sale passed in both legislative houses without opposition.

Stricklands Celebrate Silver Anniversary With Surprise Party
About 60 friends and relatives gathered at the Arthur Grosfield ranch for a surprise silver wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Ben Strickland. Dinner was served by local families and a chest of silver flatware was presented. Attendees came from Miles City Wilsall Yellowstone Park Livingston Floweree and Butte. The Stricklands married in Miles City on May 5 1930 and have lived in Big Timber nine years. They have two children Kenneth and Connie.

Rev. Alton Halverson veteran Lutheran missionary to Madagascar will present a talk and color slide show at the Lutheran church on Wednesday May 11 at 8 p m. Peggy Nebel Dies After Long Illness
Margaret E. Peggy Nebel age 28 died Friday at Community Hospital after a long illness caused by epilepsy. Funeral services were Monday at Lowry Funeral Home conducted by Bob Keefe of Livingston with organ music by Mrs. Roland Wick. Pallbearers included Henry William Herb McCauley Gary Beley Clyde Smith and Louis Taylor. Interment followed at Mountain View. She was born July 12 1926 in Big Timber and lived in the area all her life. Survivors: William J Nebel Sr and William Nebel Jr of Livingston. Her mother died a year earlier.

Mr and Mrs Chas W Ryan celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at home in Shepherd with about 100 neighbors present. They married April 29 1905 in Lockwood Mo and came to Montana in 1913 homesteading west of Big Timber before moving to Shepherd.
