Washington March 26 Almost two million people are out of work in this country 1 274 060 the senate was informed today by Secretary Davis of the Labor department in response to Senator Warner s resolution asking for a labor report He predicted prompt relief through public building programs by federal state and municipal governments but made no other predictions The report shows 23 518 692 wage earners today down from 25 222 742 in 1924 and a 7 43 percent employment drop.

April 28 Date Set For Annual Rural Meet

Tom Kue Dies at 76 in Canton China Former Montana restaurateur
Lee, proprietor of the Big Timber laundry, reports the death of Tom Kue in Canton San Sai Ning China during the last week of December. He was 76, survived by a widow, two sons, five daughters. Kue long ran the Golden Eagle restaurant on Lower MelLeod street in town after arriving in 1905, later built the Big Timber block, faced losses during World War I, and eventually left for China December 17, 1994. He was noted for punctual bill payments and a remark about patrons not throwing catsup on walls, a sign later mentioned by Sam Blythe in the Sat Evening Post.

Tractor overturn fatality near Reed Point claims Jay Thurston
Jay Edison Thurston, 35, died after a Fordson tractor overturned while he mounted a muddy grade on the C. C. Whitham ranch three miles north of Reed Point. Witnesses George Wimsett Lee Miller Neal Gunnels and Harold Munson assisted. Dr Swanson could not help. The incident occurred during lumber work as the men moved a saw rig. Thurston, born May 8 1892 in Crawfordsville Indiana, left a widow Glessie Gray and six children Delbert Nadine Agnes Chester Calvin and Norman. Funeral held at the Gray ranch home with Rev H S Tool officiating. Remains sent to Bozeman for interment.
