Wesley Frank Allen a winter employee of M. E. Bruffey near Forsyth was crushed beneath a wild bronco during a rodeo drill on a Tongue River ranch. Witness Frank Shaw said the horse reared and struck the rider’s head on a corral fence, breaking his skull and hips. Allen died instantly before removal. He hailed from Boise Idaho and was a WWII veteran with 546 days in France.

Biggest booze raid staged near Forsyth
Federal prohibition officers raided the Forsyth area seizing 1000 gallons of moonshine at the Ben Arnold residence. Twenty gallon barrels were pumped from the basement while samples were kept. Also raided were the Goldie Cooper and Angelo Messalla homes with beer bottles and minor liquors found. Ben Arnold, recently convicted of cattle rustling, is out on bail pending appeal.

Old Time Conductor Killed In Switching
James V. Logan longtime Northern Pacific conductor, age 65, was killed in a yard accident at Trident Cement in Montana. He had been on the Helena to Logan freight run and was the region’s oldest conductor in service. The fatality occurred during a yard switching operation without witnesses. he likely stepped in front of moving cars. Logan, a native of Ontario, Canada, had served 38 years with the railroad.

Americans Set World Endurance Flight Record At Jacksonville Beach
Edward Stinson and George Haldeman piloted a Stinson-Detroiter to a new world endurance record of 53 hours 36 minutes 90 seconds at Jacksonville Beach Florida. They landed at 1 15 10 pm EST after takeoff Wednesday morning with five gallons of fuel remaining. The effort surpassed Johann Risticz’s 53 hour 22 minute record set last August in Germany.
