In re reading last week's article the budgeting power for our high school was misstated. Correct figures are base amounts of 316.00 and 330.00 reduced by 38 and 45 cents per student to a maximum ANB of 200, with the second figure to be omitted as it related to another procedure.

St Mark's Episcopal and other area congregations plan a three hour Good Friday service on April 7 at the high school gym. Rev. Hood and Rev. Lindley lead devotions and sermons across six units with varied music from Lutheran Congregational and Church of God groups. Nursey care, ushers, and an offering to benefit the hospital guild are arranged.
Senator A Ronald McDonnell addressed the Lions club noting the U S Supreme Court reversal on the oil lease law may prove economically pivotal for Montana. He outlined the 1953 lease law and its impact on the state school foundation program and highway funding. He cited plans to attract funds before the next session and discussed tax changes for roads and school finance. Amery announced M F Enright will show World Series pictures at the April 26 meeting and Big Timber Night is May 19. The club will again provide ice cream for the father and son banquet. a cable on the Natural Bridge cable near Boulder needs tightening.
The Lutheran Brotherhood hosts the annual father and son banquet at the Lutheran parish hall Saturday at 6 30 pm. Dads and sons from the community are invited with a 125 charge for father and son. Awards for Cub and Boy Scouts will be presented during the court of honor.
George Henderson of Billings and his lion dog Prince captured three more mountain lions last weekend near Upper Deer Creek. One adult female was treed and killed. two yearling cubs were captured with assistance from Ben and Kenneth Strickland, Louis Mysse, and Elizabeth Grosfield. A cub was shot by Bill Moers, another roped and dragged down. a big male lion remained at large. The cub sold to Eaton's Inn after the hunt.
A number of Sweet Grass county residents attended the Montana Farm Bureau leadership training conference at the Baxter hotel in Bozeman on Monday and Tuesday. Attendees included John Yost vice president and committee chair, E M Adams state policy execution and livestock committee head, Mrs Adams and George B Crum county livestock committee member.
Big Timber Rod and Gun club met at Frye's cafe to consider a new public access road to Glasston lakes and monthly meetings to revive activity. Project hinges on fencing and cattle control with possible state help after five years, while ranchers seek restricted areas and sanitation measures.
There are no new developments in the mystery of an abandoned car found overturned near Jarrett creek on highway 10 west of Big Timber Montana. The vehicle was owned by a Minneapolis man Harold Schindeldecker missing since March 4. Police seek clues to his whereabouts amid no evidence of foul play.
The Big Timber E U B church will host the conference Brotherhood Friday through Sunday with about fifteen churches represented. Rev. Dean Vermillion district superintendent will deliver the keynote. Raymond Ruff Brotherhood president leads. Events begin Friday at 8 pm with worship and talks. Saturday features sessions from 9 am and a 6:30 banquet after elections. Sunday includes morning worship and a noon potluck before the 2 pm conclusion.
The Big Timber Rifle and Pistol club hosts an indoor pistol tournament this weekend at the range. Entries mainly from North Dakota and Montana surrounding areas, with growing local interest. Spectators are welcome and the best viewing is around 1 p.m. Sunday.
Lois Williams will attend a district polio vaccine orientation meeting in Billings on March 23 as part of a statewide series overseen by the state board of health. District clinics will train county health officers and public health nurses on vaccine administration, record keeping, and clinic logistics to prepare for mass vaccination, with about 32 000 Montana children expected to be eligible.
Absaroka district Boy Scout leaders gather at the American Legion hall in Big Timber tonight at 8. James E. Topics include the Camporee set for April 22 23 24 at Luccock Park south of Livingston.
Plans are complete for Senior Career day at Sweet Grass county high school next Wednesday under the state department of guidance. Reed Point Gardiner Columbus Harlowton Park City Absarokee and Sweet Grass county high schools will participate with talks from trades industries professions and armed services representatives beginning at 9 a m and continuing through most of the day.
A total of $1535.01 was collected in the March of Dimes campaign led by treasurer Mrs. L. D. Severance. Revenues came from cards $1072.74 cans $72.69 Mother's march $113.30 schools $193.75 and special events $82.53. Expenses were $77.20 leaving net proceeds of $1457.81 with half retained in Sweet Grass county and the other half sent to the National Foundation. The organizers thank all donors and volunteers for their support.
Mrs. P J Deegan’s car driven by her son John overturned near Elton in Park county on Highway 10. John escaped injury as a truck driver pulled him free through the windshield. The vehicle landed upside down in a narrow gulley and was damaged due to icy roads.
Howard V. Arndt a former Northern Pacific operator in Springdale died March 6 in a San Diego hospital after a long illness. Born February 22 1880 in Bartonsville Pennsylvania he moved to Springdale in 1916 worked in Big Timber earlier and served as an insurance agent in the 1920s He retired in 1936 then split time between Springdale and Sandpoint Idaho Survived by a widow a son Russell H Arndt two daughters Kay Rowland and Mary McDonald a sister and two grandchildren Funeral services were held last week with burial at Fort Rosecrans cemetery.
At the Evan gelical United Brethren church annual meeting Rev. J. D. Lindley led the election of officers. Re-elected leaders include Henry Sandsness as class leader, Gordon Huyser as trustee, Hazel Mack as assistant, and several financial and administrative posts. The Sunday school group also saw re-elections. The session closed with a year-end report and refreshments.
