Spring Brings Worst Weather in Sweet Grass County
Spring arrived with a fierce wind storm Monday night in Sweet Grass County causing roof concerns though little damage overall. Snow followed with three to four inches on the ground locally, while the county’s north and west areas report heavier snows and drifting snow. Snowplows kept roads open but piled snow high, and temperatures reached 10 below in the McLeod-West Boulder area.

Onie Davis Home Destroyed By Fire
A noon Tuesday blaze destroyed the Onie Davis home on the east side of the Boulder about five miles from town. Mr. and Mrs. Davis and their daughter Mrs. Joe Soldat were away and returned to find ashes and damaged belongings. Fire and wind impeded efforts despite neighbors and volunteers removing most items. cause believed defective wiring. No insurance. Plans to rebuild when weather allows.

Janice Oefstos daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Oefstos of Malta was found in California after two weeks away. She called her parents on Hank's birthday eve and had secured a job caring for three children near her uncle and grandmother in Long Beach. Her parents flew to Long Beach to bring her home.

Big Timber Team Places Second in Laurel Expert Match
The Big Timber Rifle and Pistol club earned second place in the expert team match at the Southern Montana Sectional Smallbore tournament in Laurel Sunday. Team members were Raymond Hoem Teddy Thompson Warren Patten and Bob Moulden. Thompson won match two in the sitting position and Patten placed second in the offhand expert class.

Gustav August Breding 78 well known Gibson county rancher died Sunday at Memorial hospital Livingston after a long illness death due to an intestinal obstruction. Funeral at Lowry's Funeral Home at 2 pm with cremation per his wishes. Rev Hood led service with choir. Local Delegates Attend FFA Meet in Livingston
Nine FFA members from Big Timber attended the Southwest district FFA convention in Livingston with 120 members from eleven chapters. Big Timber placed fourth in livestock judging and second in farm mechanics with Marvin Hammersmark earning high individual three times. The team also ranked fifth in soil judging and fifth overall in Se ee oe, while the talent contest earned a gold division showing supported by Edith Malcolm and Kay Boe.

Ernest Leland McKelvy 55, husband of Reva Cook, died Sunday of a heart attack at his Billings home. Born January 24, 1900 in Croydon Iowa he moved with family to Powell Wyoming in 1913 and Billings in 1930. He worked 25 years as counter salesman at Keefe Automotive Supply Co. He married Reva Cook in Joliet in 1934. Survived by wife a daughter Marilyn 10 his mother Mrs Martha McKelvy of Powell three sisters and one brother.
