Bill Lays Observe Silver Anniversary
Despite heavy rain more than one hundred friends and relatives celebrated Mr and Mrs Bill Lay at their Bridger Creek home for their silver wedding anniversary. Guests from Grey Cliff Broadview Laurel Big Timber Absarokee Reed Point and Corvallis brought potluck dishes and gifts as Ruth Kjarmo and Mrs Henry Hausserman baked and decorated wedding cakes. The Lays married June 18 1932 in Bozeman and have lived on Bridger Creek since. Bill has served on the south main Reed Point route for over 22 years.

Obituary notes Theo Lavold, born in FlekeF, emigrated to Minnesota with his family, worked with John Hoff, and helped establish large ranches near Porcupine Butte. He retired in 1927 selling the Porcupine Butte stand, moved to Big Timber two years later, and lived with two daughters Stella Ayers in No Sola until his death Friday after services at the local church.

Week of traffic crashes leaves county rattled
A flurry of accidents across the county this week caused no serious injuries. Marilyn Hamp of St. Marys was hospitalized after a south Boulder road crash near the airport turnoff, treated for bruises and released. Thomas Hugh Murphy of Great Falls paid a 10 dollar fine for careless driving after a crash on highway 10 east of Grey Cliff involving a loaded butter truck. A Kinnick Lumber Co. truck driven by Chas Ronald Hoots left the road and hit a telephone pole at the same site, scattering lumber. An overturned Washington-licensed car sat east of Grey Cliff with the driver unlocated. Thomas Lee Fowlkes of Billings received a 75 dollar fine and 10 days in jail after a reckless driving incident four miles west of Reed Point last Thursday.

Rainfall totals exceed average across county weekend
A weekend rainstorm from Saturday night to Sunday night dropped 9.5 inches at one house and pushed countywide totals to about 2.85 inches for the past week. Henry Hausserman reported 3.9 inches and Sid Frasersrand logged four inches. unofficial readings were even higher. Temperatures ranged to 79 degrees during the week.
