Reed Points Class Reunion Held at VFW Hall

Reed Point high school class of 1937 held a 20 year reunion at the VFW hall with attendees listed including Mrs. Ralph Roukema Mrs. Alfred Ostrum Jack Collins and Rex Guthrie. A turkey dinner for 14 guests featured blue and gold decor and letters from absent member Frances Ellen Wagner Cesnick. Each member shared updates from the last decade and old photos were enjoyed.

Parade Prizes Announced for Rodeo Parade

Moose lodge organizers released prize details for the rodeo parade. Float awards start at 30 dollars for first and descend to 15 dollars for fourth, with 40 dollars to county 4-H clubs. Boy Scouts and Cubs each get 15 dollars for parade participation, and best comic entries earn three 5 dollar prizes. Bike prizes top at 3 dollars for first, with separate youth divisions and a 250 dollar youngest cowboy prize.

Margaret Lutgen and Adelbert Eder Wed in Montana

Miss Margaret Louise Lutgen daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Lutgen of Rapelje and Adelbert Eder son of Mr and Mrs Wayne Eder of Reed Point were united in marriage at 6 o clock Saturday June 8 at St James Lutherans. Attendants included Carl Eder of Columbus and the bridegrooms siblings Una Kay Lloyd Eder and Teddy Jo DeCock. The bride wore an orchid two piece suit with white accessories and a corsage of white and orchid carnations. The couple will honeymoon in the state and live with his parents to help with farm operations.

Model T Race Heads to Helena From Billings

Two 1920s era cars are to leave Billings at 1 p m Saturday June 22 for a chaotic dash toward Helena. Sid Phillips drives a 1923 roadmaster with Mary as mechanic while Jim Anderson pilots a 1919 touring car for Reds Lodge with Jean Columbus as mechanic. Timers in a 1922 Studebaker precede the action and the governors attendance is noted.

93rd Birthday for Lars Wangsmo at Big Timber Rest Home

Lars Wangsmo, born June 6 1864 in By nesset Norway, celebrated his 93rd birthday at the Big Timber Rest Home with friends and relatives. He moved to the United States in 1927 after earlier residence on Sweet Grass and later lived with his sons Magnar Wangsmo in Livingston and Albert Rostad in Big Timber, with daughter Del Lampman in Billings.

Engagement Announced Wheat Growers To Vote June 20

Wheat growers are to vote June 20 on marketing quotas for the 1958 wheat crop and the level of price support. A two thirds vote is required to approve quotas, with penalties on excess production for farms over 15 acres. If approved, penalties would be 45 percent of the May 1 parity price and price support would be at least 1.78 dollars per bushel for compliant producers. If more than one third reject quotas, no quotas or penalties apply. Only eligible voters with adequate acreage and reserve participation may vote.

Services Held for Edgar Gibson Former Gallatin Rancher

Funeral services for Edgar Gibson 84, a former Sweet Grass county rancher, were held at Cloyd mortuary. Born November 8, 1872 in St Joseph Missouri, he lived much of his life in Gallatin County. He married Rebecca at Clyde Park in 1896 and died November 23 1925. Survived by his widow two sons Bud of Springdale and Louis of Three Forks a daughter Mrs Madden Nye Cooke City another Mrs C C Ballheim Jamshedpur India a stepson Mrs Robert Crombie Whitier California and 32 grandchildren.

Precipitation Near Year Ends Near Normal in Sweet Grass County

Total precipitation since January 1 reached 12.65 inches versus a 34 year average of 13.99 inches. A heavy rain last Thursday of 1.22 inches damaged crops in Grey Cliff Reed Point and hail and wind affected the Boulder valley hay and grain. A 2.74 inch total for the week included 1.22 on June 7 and smaller daily amounts through June 12.

Big Timber Rifle and Pistol club shooters topped a Montana State college squad in a shoulder to shoulder indoor smallbore match held last week. Individual scores highlight Kenneth Elgen 387 and high loser Lones Wigger 394 as Teddy Thompson 384 and Bob Groom 388 also posted strong totals.

Donald Rash Dies After Surgery In Billings Hospital

Donald Rash 47 a Rosebud county rancher died Friday in a Billings hospital after surgery following a cancer illness. Born August 8 1909 in Derby Iowa he moved with his family to Reed Point area then ranched there until 1940. He and wife Marion McKay later settled south of Forsyth and he drove a Colstrip school bus. High school bus route changes announced

The Boulder river route bus will be discontinued next year. A new route north of town will run Otter creek to the Glasston cut-off via west Hwa town. The change arises from student numbers on each route, with over twenty on Glasston and under ten on Boulder.
