Pollard Awarded 25 563 In Action For Personal Injury
A district court jury last week awarded Irving Pollard the exact amount he sought in a personal injury suit against Donald Todd and Donald Todd Jr for a November 1963 accident at the Todd ranch. The verdict was 25 563 45 dollars. A new personal injury case was called, Paul Van Cleve III and Carol Van Cleve v Edna Jarrett, with a fractured leg and other injuries. Jury members were named and alternates listed. attorneys for plaintiffs and defendant are noted.

Little Soil Loss From Burned Airport Area
Niel E. McCaslin of the Soil Conservation Service reports on erosion after a January fire near the airport beach. He notes unburned soil horizons reach 3.14 inches, burned areas down to 3 inches, and soil drift in a coulee containing mainly organic matter and ash. Teacher Kills Self And Three Children
Mrs. Carolyn Spurlin 29 killed herself and her three sons Craig 2 Eugene 4 and Joseph 7 in Livingston Tuesday night. She taught at East Boulder school during 1958 59 and later was a voluntary patient at Warm Springs state mental hospital about a year ago. Her husband Harley works as a soft drink deliveryman.

Search Continues For River Victim Aus Body
Sheriff's officers and volunteers and two divers spent Saturday in another futile attempt to find the body of Ramona Aus a 21 year old Montana State College student who fell into the Boulder river at the Natural Bridge May 29. With the aid of Teddy Thompson winch truck the log jam in the first hole below the Natural bridge pool was removed. The divers then made a thorough search of the pool but found no trace of the body. The drivers also worked a considerable portion of the river below the canyon.

Funeral Services For Mike Webb In Livingston
Funeral services were held in Livingston for Merritt L. Mike Webb 71 a former Otter Creek rancher who died Friday. Interment at Mountain View Big Timber with American Legion posts conducting military rites. Survived by widow Bertha, son George in Encino California, daughters Marion Conrow Anaheim California Lorraine Prim Livingston, six grandsons and six granddaughters.

Charles Abraham Bishop 87 longtime public servant of Big Timber and Sweet Grass county died at home after years of ill health. Funeral set for Thursday at 2 from Lowry Chapel with Rev. Ccee Johnson officiating burial Mountain View. Born April 25 1878 in Burnettsville Ind he married Pearle Callahan in 1900. Survived by widow a niece and a nephew, with a prior daughter Marda deceased.

Mrs. Mabel Brenden, a four year Sweet Grass county schoolteacher, is the 1965 recipient of the Sweet Grass county soil and water conservation district teacher scholarship worth 50 dollars. She will study Conservation of our Natural Resources at Eastern Montana College with Dr. Clark this summer. The award aims to encourage teachers to take conservation courses and share basic concepts in the classroom. Directors select the winner each spring from applications due by June first. A report on the course will be given at the district annual meeting next winter.

Mrs. Clete Huff reports gifts in response to last week’s article. Rose Crockett donated two sun room pictures in memory of Mr. Crockett. Art Sell suggests the Boy Scouts collect 400 clothes hangers. Mrs. James Moore Sr. of Sidney, Montana, made 12 pot holders for the kitchen. After interviewing twenty five applicants, nearly a complete staff is ready for work. Classes for new hires will be held at the Pioneer Home before opening day. Key staff include Mrs. Susie McComb as cook and Mrs. Harold McLauchlan as registered nurse on call. Thirty patients have signed up for admittance. Huff family moves to Big Timber June 15, living at 302 East Second.
