The city announces Lion's Park pool opens June 14 for public swimming with two sessions of lessons. The first session runs June 16 to July and second in July. Registration for the first session is June 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 30 to 5 p.m. at the pool. An adult swimming class begins June 21 from 6 90 to 7 15.
A fragmented report notes hazardous driving conditions around the city as traffic rises for vacation travel. It warns drivers that speed and lack of care increase risk on the narrow bridges and approaches west and east of town.
The Second Annual JayCee Youth Rodeo comes to Big Timber June 18 19 with over 200 contestants from Montana and SG Counts announced age group junior 8 13 senior 14 and up. Events run Saturday and Sunday with action and a chance to win a $100 bill and a car radio through a raffle.
A two-vehicle crash near Loomites west of Base Timbes injured multiple people and caused substantial damage. James Spradlin of Sanford Florida was hospitalized with minor injuries after a tractor trailer loaded with apples and a van pulling an Airstream trailer collided as Richard Reeve's van tried a left turn into a farm exit. The Reeves vehicle was not hospitalized. passengers sustained minor injuries. Traffic backed up for miles after the semi began to pass and struck the Reeves vehicle, sending Spradlin’s tractor trailer into a barrow pit and catching fire.
Gil Aller Sweet Grass High School reunion advances to final planning stages. Class of 1952 alumni met at Barbara Sell’s home to arrange a program for July 30 and 31 at the Moose Hall. Calls go out to former students and staff from Aller’s era. info via Barbara Sell or Arlene Pile.
Father Robert Shelley of St Mark's Episcopal Church completed a one and a half month ministry sabbatical with a Montana group of five priests and a bishop. They studied Anglican roots in England visiting London Canterbury Oxford Salisbury Exeter Coventry and Scotland. The trip included village communes, retreats at Devon abbey and collaboration with Coventry Cathedral, offering insight into liturgy and church renewal.
