Predator Levy Reduction In Montana Livestock Sector
The Montana Livestock Commission announced a drop in the predator control levy on cattle and other livestock from 2 mills to 1.5 mills per head, while sheep retain a 4.5 mill levy. Two Youths Stop in Big Timber on 1500 Mile Bike Trip
Two Minnesota teens Tim Hansen 17 and Marian Kobilka 14 rode into Big Timber on a 1500 mile biking trek through four states. A wind delay near Livingston forced an overnight stay after checking with the sheriff and lodging in the courthouse. City Council Hires Bob Hauck For Summer Recreation
Big Timber City Council hires Bob Hauck as program director for two months at 400 dollars monthly to supervise the summer recreation program including Pee Wee baseball. A new tennis court is funded by Jaycees and the Woman's club with volunteer help planned. A 30 by 40 foot basketball court is to be built around July first at the northeast athletic field. A legal assistant will work on zoning and a Work-Study plan shares costs with the county and federal government pays most. Budget finalization is set for July.

Memorial Day Observance Held in Big Timber
Memorial Day events were held Friday with a parade from the Courthouse to the Legion Hall despite rain. Bob Meinrod delivered the principal address, introduced by Arne Petaja, amid prayers by Rev.
