The annual meeting of rangers and staff of the Galla tin forest will be held Thursday and Friday at headquarters in Bozeman. Holiday deaths reached 375 over the long weekend as a United Press survey shows 190 in traffic, 58 drownings, and 127 in air crashes, fires, and other mishaps. California leads with 36 fatalities followed by Illinois 25 and Texas 24. The toll may fall short of last year’s 482.

About 30 000 pounds of the Big Timber Live stock wool clip sold at 71 5 8 cents per pound, the highest Montana price since 1918, announced by W F Trask who handled the sale. The remaining 125 000 pounds sold at 63 3 8 cents per pound to Glennus Parker of Harold T Lind sley Co Boston merchants.
The second Boy Scout paper drive will be held Saturday at 8 30. Scouts will remind townspeople Friday to have paper ready. Rural residents should bring paper to McIntyre Motor Sales or Oie Motor Co. Last drive earned 27 95 and paper was trucked to Billings by E A Bieber. Scouts and committeemen meet at McIntyre Motor at 8 30 Saturday morning.
District Deputy Grand Chief Helen Durden of Livingston visited Zenobia temple No. 5 Pythian Sisters at their regular meeting. M E C Frances Nevin presided. The evening featured a Flag Day program with readings, a poem, and songs. Forty members attended and plans were made for Zenobia temple’s fiftieth anniversary in June.

Death reported for Thad C. Pound a longtime Big Timber figure who lived in Los Angeles. Services slated at Chapel of the Pines. Pound arrived in Montana in 1880, served as Yellowstone County deputy sheriff, worked in Yellowstone Park, and is survived by multiple California and Livingston relatives. Cremation planned with ashes sent to Helen Pound Talcott for scattering in Yellowstone Park.
