A striking incident near Melville saw Eline and Emil Adam and O. A. Maerchan escape a drowning after a cloudburst transformed dry Seven Mile creek into a torrent. The bridge failed mid crossing, horses and wagon stranding, but all aboard reached shore with only a scare and minor injuries.

St Olaf College Band to Perform in Auditorium Thursday
The St Olaf college concert band of Northfield Minnesota led by Prof F Melius Christiansen and assisted by Prof Oscar Gronseth will give a concert at the Auditorium on Thursday evening August 12. The band of forty five student musicians has a renowned Northwest reputation and a history of European tours and royal audiences. This year marks the sixth annual American concert tour following a 1906 Norway concert circuit.
