24 Cars Pile Up In Derailment Of Freight Train Near Elton
A transient riding on a Northern Pacific freight car was seriously injured when 24 lumber cars derailed at Elton west switch, four miles west of Springdale. Gondolas and flatcars blocked the main line. The injured man, Charles Johnson, said four other riders were with him and may be buried, but railroad officials found no evidence of additional victims.

A tail light seen burning over water led to the discovery of a late model car that plunged into the Yellowstone River early Wednesday. The victims were Ruth Borgschatz 23 of Zumbrota Minnesota Lydia Haynes 20 of Bozeman Joseph Bernard Long 21 of Chicago and William Hess Jr 26 of Conyngham Pennsylvania.
